Recovery points allow you to attach
tow
ropes
, snatch ropes and
winch cables to your vehicle
to aid in vehicle recovery. Recovery
points are normally attached directly to the vehicle's chassis so as to
withstand the extreme stresses applied during vehicle recoveries.

While normal (factory-fitted) recovery points and tow bars are suitable
for on-road towning, both of trailers and other vehicles, they usually
don't withstand off-road
vehicle recovery
operations

Unfortunately not many production four wheel drives today come equipped
with heavy-duty recovery points. For this reason many resort to third-party
accessories such as those depicted above. Note that use of such heavy-duty
recovery points often also requires strengthening of the vehicle's chassis
and bumber where the recovery points are attached.
